Smithwick's Brewery Tour

Smithwick's Brewery Tour

Learn about 3 centuries of the brewing of Smithwick’s, Ireland’s favourite ale. The narrative is an awe-inspiring one. John Smithwick was left orphaned as a result of the 17th century Irish rebellion, but he refused to give up. Instead he bravely began working his way up the ladder, created a family and began to brew Smithwick’s Ale in 1710. It flourished over the next 300 years and now the name Smithwick’s has come to mean something to the nation and local community as it represents determination, quality and nine generations of fine Smithwick men. Find out more about their story by taking a tour of the brewery, including an exploration of the incredible 12th century St Francis Abbey building, located on the site.
